Getting started
How do I add a podcast?
Open the Library tab and tap Discover. Search for a show by name, or tap "Have an RSS URL?" to add any podcast by its feed address. Tap a result to preview it, then add it to your library.
How does the queue work?
Add episodes to "Up Next" from any podcast or search result. Reorder the queue with a long-press and drag. Tap an entry to start playing it.
Can I listen offline?
Yes. Open a podcast, find an episode, and tap Save to download it for offline listening. Downloads live on your device and can be removed at any time.
AI features
Do I need an API key?
No — InteroCast is a complete podcast player without one. An API key is only needed for the optional AI features (transcripts via OpenAI Whisper, the Ask assistant, and Voice mode). Apple Intelligence transcription is free and works on-device without any key.
Which providers are supported, and what does it cost?
You can use your own OpenAI or Anthropic key. Requests go directly from your device to the provider you chose, and you're billed by that provider for your own usage. InteroCast never charges you for AI usage and never sees your key or your content.
Where do I add my key?
Go to Settings → Preferences → Your Keys, and paste your OpenAI or Anthropic key. Keys are stored securely on your device.
How do transcripts work?
On the player's Transcript tab, you can generate a transcript two ways: with OpenAI Whisper (cloud-based, needs an OpenAI key), or with Apple Intelligence (free and entirely on-device, where supported). Once generated, the transcript follows along as you listen, and you can long-press any line to save it as a clipping.
What does "the assistant knows where I am" mean?
The Ask assistant and Voice mode are aware of your current position in the episode, so questions like "what was just said?" or "summarize so far" are answered relative to where you're listening.
Devices & sync
Does it work on iPad and CarPlay?
Yes. InteroCast supports iPhone and iPad (including a landscape two-pane layout), CarPlay, and a Home Screen widget.
How does iCloud sync work?
If you're signed in to iCloud, your podcast library syncs across your devices automatically. Your data stays in your own iCloud account.
